Yaba: So called Posh Addiction!!

Yaba, the Thai word for "crazy medicine," is a tablet form of methamphetamine. Nowadays it is the most popular addiction in metropolitan areas of Bangladesh. When it first came to Bangladesh in 1999 each pill had cost ~Tk1500. But now it's available at Tk250-400. Initially it was available in two or three special locations of Gulshan and Baridhara. But now Yaba can be delivered to home if ordered over the phone!

It is believed that Yaba has entered Bangladesh from Myanmar and Thailand. The most shocking news is, a Yaba making factory is recently discovered in Gulshan by RAB!!
Most addicts are aged between 18-30 but there are many younger and older users. Women are a major part of the total number of addicts. Many artists in the media are also addicted to it badly. As it is costly, mostly rich people go for it. As a result it has become a posh(!) drug in the city!

The temporary effects of Yaba which the addicts try to enjoy are: It stimulates body, increases …

Slack n' Speedy

This little table is located inside a tea-stall. The tea-stall is located beside a big petrol-pump. In this particular tea-stall you can find people of many categories: young, old, rich, poor and many others. This soiled table preserves the essence of many kinds of people. Some stop by here during re-fueling their vehicle, some are passers-by and some are the local ones. It doesn't get to be washed until a customer complains... You can see a blurred highway just infront of the table... and beside this highway the lifestyle is slack... This little dirty table resembles both the speedy and steady nature of human lifestyle...

Poor lifestyle.... but yet, delicious.

You will find this type of delicious foods all over Bangladesh. They are unhealthy, they are cheap but they are very tasty. This specific food item shown in the picture is called "Puri". these foods are favourite to poor people and university students. Captured it from Yusuf Bhai's Hotel where Vandarians use to hang out everyday. I took the shot at the time of load shedding. The candle represents it well I guess.

Unsatisfied Hunger

The little boy washed a piece of meat from this golden pond... It was so fresh that there was still blood on it... The boy was wearing a "lungi"... I kept standing behind him as he was washing the piece of meat... I thought he would be happy enough to see a camera on my hand pointed directly towards him... But  no, he kept washing and I kept waiting for the moment... and finally when he finished washing... He turned around and noticed me for the 1st time... the look he gave me was a mixture of curiosity, tiredness, hunger, depression and innocence. I guess he was wishing if the meat he just had washed was for him... But..... it wasn't......

The Walk Continues...

Aimless walk... Gazing around... Taking no rest... Leaving all behind in black and white... Colors the path with mankind's footstep... Until he can predict the unpredictable... Until he can gloss all the black-n-white... The walk continues...

A Dream Come True

8th January 2007 to 2nd November 2010... It took us 4 years to accomplish what we wanted from IUT... A dream come true.

Here are some snaps from that very important day of my life... My convocation...

With my dad... Doesn't he look happy? :)

Taking the certificate from our VC Dr. M Imtiaz Hossain

I guess no one wants to miss this event after the convocation... I lost my hat twice while doing this... And also got them back twice... But none of them were the same hat ;)

Some unforgettable moments... Do you see any face without smile? I don't.

Do you see any difference between a doll and this little angel? She is one of my friend's niece... She came to congratulate her uncle and uncle's friends.. (us!!) :P

After the convocation dinner... The whole EEE'06

With my mom and dad... At my graduation party...

With my elder and younger brothers and mom

The Dreamland (My 1st Magpie: Mag 29)

[Discovered this via Lydia. I thank Magpie Tales for this wonderful innovative opportunity]

Ricky: Hold on a second Jes! (Shouting loudly)
Jessy: I can't wait for you Rick! (Running away to the yard through the door)

Ricky came running at the yard after few minutes. He was panting.
Ricky: Who will be the cop?
Jessy: Me!
Ricky: No Me!
Jessy: Okay, let's toss.

Ricky and Jessy went to the kitchen and asked their mom to give them a coin.

Mrs. Richard: Why do you need a coin? (A big surprised question mark on her face)
Mr. Richard: Because they want to decide who would be the cop! (Shouting from the living room and laughing)

After the toss, Jessy turned out to be the cop! Ricky gave a bitter look to Jessy's smiling face.

According to the rule the cop has to stay inside the home with closed eyes for 1 minute and by then the thief hides himself/herself.

Ricky hid himself in the garden and after one minute Jessy came out to find his brother. She had to do it within 5 minutes. Otherwise s…

I'm going Green!!

Finally... after a lot of changes and experiments.. I decided to go green! I tried to give a greenish look to my blog. At first I tried black background which didn't satisfy me. Then I changed it... tried new colors and even tried some images for full background. And eventually I ended up with this look.

The blog header photo contains many important persons of my "life". And the color green symbolizes "life".

And that's how it's "a walk through my life"! :)

You are tagged!!

Well... Tagging in blog is a common fashion I guess. Many days back I was tagged by an Egyptian blogger. She doesn't blog that much now. That was the 1st time. Today one of my blogger friend Mahmud reminded me of this culture again by tagging me in his blog. So let's do it!

Rules of Tagging: Tell your readers 10 things about yourself that they may or may not know, but are true. Tag 10 people with the award, and be sure to let them know they’ve been tagged (a quick comment on their blog will do). Link back to the blogger who tagged you.Alright. Now here goes the 10 things about myself that I would like to share with you guys:
I love to sleep. And my sleep is too deep to be broken by a mere alarm.I like to travel and I'm never tired of that.I love my hometown (Chittagong) a lot and it gets hard for me if I don't visit it atleast twice a month. I cannot stand too much cold.Everytime I buy a shade I lose it within 1 or two weeks. That's why I don't buy it now. I bo…

A too early Farewell!

[before entering the party... all are with same T-shirt... representing only one thing: IUT '06]

We came to IUT in January 2007. It's 2010. We are close to finish our ride in IUT. Hopefully our batch will graduate in 1st week of November this year. I seek everyone's prayer and help from Almighty for passing these final tough days. According to the tradition our Farewell has been given bit earlier because of Ramadan. Yah.. It's bit early. And I feel it's bit too early for me. Am I that old to take farewell from my university? I don't feel that way. It's like we came here few weeks ago... And now the farewell bells have already been rung.. It was our last ever big party at IUT. We are never going to rock the auditorium with some incredible bands... It feels bad sometimes. But hey! we are not out yet. :D We still have 3 months to go! :D

[they are the official and unofficial members of room# 507... the center for EEE'06]

I would like to thank 07 batch of IUT f…

Friends... It's our day!

No relationship is as pure as friendship. It has no boundary, no limitation. It's freedom. It's affection. It's caring and sharing. It's accompanying. It's love without any condition. It's giving without waiting for getting anything in return. It's friendship... A relationship which is a gift from God... A relationship which is still pure.

[@cox's bazar.. 31st December, 2008]

My friends... I don't know what should I say... You have been the very best thing in my life... You are the persons with whom I can be myself... You are the persons with whom I laugh the most... You are the persons whose company can wipe out any kind of pain of this world... You are the persons which save my day from not being boring... You are the persons who know me even better than my parents... You are the persons who understand me... You are the persons with whom I can share anything without any hesitation... I love you guys... I just never felt the need to say this... Happ…

My Humanhood

When we see clouds... we say... "it's going to rain..." or else we say... "it doesn't matter because sun is always smiling behind those gloomy clouds... Which one is being optimistic? The answer will be the last one in most of the cases. But I think it's not being optimistic. It's a mere sympathy. It's ignoring the fact. It's showing your back to the truth.

Anyway, tonight I'm running out of this sympathetic words... so called "words of wisdom". These words help us to ignore the little facts of our life and let us concentrate on the bigger ones. These words... definitely help us move on. But tonight... They are not applicable to me.

It's not like my life is so painful, so tough. It's not like I'm frustrated... giving up all hopes. It's not like I have no reason to smile... no reason to be happy. It's all about few questions. Few unanswered questions...

Asking questions will not help. Words of wisdom failed to impres…

If I want to be 'someone'... that's him.

You may have thought I didn't see,
Or that I hadn't heard,
Life lessons that you taught to me,
But I got every word.

You have a place of honor
Deep within my heart.
You've been my superhero, Dad,
Right from the very start.
