Backbiting and Slandering

Just a little information about slandering and backbiting from the perspective of Islam:

Definition of slandering and backbiting according to Hadith:

Abu Hurayrah (radyAllaahu ‘anhu) narrated that Prophet Mohammad (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
"Do you know what backbiting is?” They said, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He then said, “It is to say something about your brother that he would dislike.” Someone asked him, “But what if what I say is true?” The Messenger of Allah said, “If what you say about him is true, you are backbiting him, but if it is not true then you have slandered him."

Islam strictly forbids slandering and backbiting:

From Quran:
"O you who believe! Avoid much [negative] assumptions, indeed, some assumptions are sin. And do not spy or backbite each other" [49:12]
"Woe to every slanderer and backbiter." [Surah Al-Humazah: 1]

From Hadith:

Hudaifah (radyAllaahu ‘anhu) reported that the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
"The one who spreads gossip (Namaam) will not enter Paradise."
Me and some of my friends were discussing about 'slandering' from the perspective of Islam. We all know that 'backbiting' is a deadly sin. But we often do it. We do slandering even more frequently.

Just a little example:

Probably you are browsing your Facebook news feed. You see a picture of girl without proper dress. Then you tell your friend about the girl... Something like, "See that girl... ah! what a revealing dress she is wearing, she is a '________". You all now what word you most frequently use in that gap. You don't know anything about that girl. You are just assuming it. And telling your assumption to your friend in her absence. That's slandering. And even if you knew that girl has some bad habits, you cannot just gossip about her. That's backbiting. Both are prohibited in Islam. But we 'Muslims' do it a lot.

You heard from a 'friend' that your neighbor is an addicted person. And probably you keep spreading this without even verifying it. That's slandering. And even if it is true, that's backbiting.

There are cases when you can say negative things about others. For instance, you may have to complain about someone or warn someone about others.

If your friend is buying goods from a grocery, and you know for sure that the grocery sells faulty goods, you can warn your friend about that or you can even complain to the authority. That's not backbiting nor slandering.

Backbiting and slandering are two major sins. Brothers and sisters, please avoid these two. These two habits can eventually destroy a whole society.

N.B.: If you find any fault/misconception in this post, please provide information with construction comments.

টং দোকান (Tong Dokan)

Since I moved here in Canada, I have been missing so many things... My family, my friends, that easy life where my parents used to take care of everything, those endless hangouts and so many other things... I even miss those things which I used to hate back in my country... like load shedding, traffic jams and so on... But I am not gonna write about these things... Today I will babble a bit about 'Tong Dokan'. I know those who don't know Bengali, don't have any idea what I am talking about... But don't worry... I will write a whole post about it now.. I am gonna tell about how this is related to my life, how this is related to every person in Bangladesh..

A busy highway. There is a lot of noise. Loud horns from different type of vehicles. Apart from cars and buses, a lot of Rickshaws are moving slowly in the road. Some passers-by are anxiously looking left and right to cross the road. There are some banks and departmental stores beside the highway. A lot of …

Yaba: So called Posh Addiction!!

Yaba, the Thai word for "crazy medicine," is a tablet form of methamphetamine. Nowadays it is the most popular addiction in metropolitan areas of Bangladesh. When it first came to Bangladesh in 1999 each pill had cost ~Tk1500. But now it's available at Tk250-400. Initially it was available in two or three special locations of Gulshan and Baridhara. But now Yaba can be delivered to home if ordered over the phone!

It is believed that Yaba has entered Bangladesh from Myanmar and Thailand. The most shocking news is, a Yaba making factory is recently discovered in Gulshan by RAB!!
Most addicts are aged between 18-30 but there are many younger and older users. Women are a major part of the total number of addicts. Many artists in the media are also addicted to it badly. As it is costly, mostly rich people go for it. As a result it has become a posh(!) drug in the city!

The temporary effects of Yaba which the addicts try to enjoy are: It stimulates body, increases …
